How to raise basement bathroom floor?
I'm renovating the basement and adding a bathroom. Right now where the bathroom is going it is concrete floor and all the surrounding rooms have a DriCore sub-floor (7/8" thick), and then we're going to put either a bamboo or engineered wood on top of it (so another 1/2"). If I laid the ceramic tiles right on the concrete it would be between 1/4" to 1/2" high; so the other rooms would be 7/8" higher. Is there any way to raise the bathroom floor before I put the ceramic tiles?
I know they use backer board or concrete boards when installing tiles in other areas of houses so can't this be added to the concrete floor, thereby raising the level of it? I don't know if this comes in different thicknesses or not. You could pour a thin coating of concrete to raise the level too.
