Cleaning original restored wood floors in old house?
My house was built in 1835. The previous owner restored the original floors about 20 years ago. The wood is sealed and still has a nice finish but it has spaces between the planks and visible nail holes. What type of floor cleaner would be safe to clean the floors and still be OK if it seeps into the spaces between? I've used mild household cleaner and water but that leaves streaks. Any advice would be most appreciated.

We bought our house 1 year ago. We have laminate wood floors throughout the kitchen and hall. No matter what i use it always looks like crap, it has a tacky feel to it and it leaves marks behind when you walk accross it(with bare feet).
So..........I have tried Murphys oil diluted per instructions, spray laminate floor cleaner, and even 1/4 cup of Fantastic and 1/4 cup of Vinegar in warm water, nothing is working, i am getting very frusturated and i am ready to rip it up and put ceranmic tile down, please guys help me
I need valium, also...murphys DID NOT work just washed the floors 10 mins ago with murphys and they look like shit again, cuz i have kids, (3year old and 1 year old) all they do is run around.
try moping your floors with a plain water.maybe some vinegar.after floor is clean ,while still wet use towels to dry- i have amop with square type plastic,a towel like head is put on. i love this mop.you`ll be surprised how much dirt still comes off.it may look streaked at first.it sounds like you have a build -up.just keep this up till allresidue is gone-laminate floors need no cleaners.i promise you they will look great if you do this. please be very careful with amount of water you use -laminate floors will bubble & rise out of planks. DO NOT LET IT SET & soak-this is great for others but not lanimate
