In installing a 3/4" solid hardwood floor in a plywood subfloor of 2nd story haus, best way to sound proof it?
Project: Installing a 3/4" solid hardwood on plywood subfloor of 2nd floor house.
Our concern are the noise when upstairs like children running & be heard on room downstair. I was suggested the product floor muffler.

I talked to the manufacturer. They said the product will work. They said the same material is also used in Lexus, Mercedes as sound proofing.
However, our installer said that the noise will just be transmitted thru the nail/staples. But most probably, it is an added work for them installing it that is why they hesitate.
Is this a good option for underlayment for sound reduction?
Is this better than cork, rubber and other underlayments ?
yeah. i hear people saying they want that floor muffler too.
i won't do it.. can cause movement in the floor when you
walk on it, leading to squeaks. not to mention, i cant see it
helping that much (really at all) either.
that is used for floating (laminate) floors.
