Is a cork mat suitable for use in a bearded dragon tank ?
I have recently brought home a pair of bearded dragons (male and female), and now have them living in an old fish tank that i had bought but never used. I have used a cork mat that i had spare from some uni projects as their house floor.
I wonder if this would be suitable or would it be better if i got something along the lines of that green 'grass' mat ? I wonder because someone told me that it could harbour bacteria and then get my dragons sick.
I need some advice since they are my first lizards and i want to set up their tank right. I have another pair (male and female) iguanas that are housed with the cork mat as well but this is recent as i've been looking into new flooring and using the cork mat a temp instead of having them lay on the glass surface of their current tank.

The cork mat should be fine. Using solid substrate instead of loose substrate, like sand, is the safer alternative when housing beardeds. You can also use textured ceramic tile, slate rock, non-adhesive shelf liner, and repti-carpet.
(Green) Iguanas require high humidity in their enclosure; they are tropical lizards after all. Using a substrate to facilitate higher humidity will help a lot. Using organic potting soil (no added chemicals or Perlite), coconut coir bedding (like Jungle Bed), orchid bark, and/or cyprus mulch. Keep the substrate lightly moistened and well mixed. Compacted and soaked substrate will grow bacteria or fungus and not help humidity very much.
