Underlying: Foam v Cork (with Polyurethane Binder)?
Hello I am trying to renovate my house, mostly with natural materials. I am by establishing a float floor and want advice on the sublayer. My options are: Foam (for example) http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/n … Or a roll of cork that takes place along a folder of polyurethane (for example) http://www.apcork.co.uk/product.htm In terms of toxicity and offgassing and the resistance to electricity static, could suggest that insurance is both? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
The link does not foam so I can not say much about that choice. However, if made for use as an underlayment for floating floors then it would probably be satisfactory. cork floors generally do not produce electricity static, are hypoallergenic and polyurethane is inert and very stable once cured, they would have already done in the census of cork. Without knowing more about the installation environment and use would vote for the base layer of cork.
