Can I apply polyurethane sealer to a laminate wood floating floor?
I have dogs that have pee accidents and are ruinning my floors. Some of the seams where they have had accidents are raising.
ABSOLUTELY NOT...
If your dogs have accidents the best way to save your laminate floor is to get it dry ASAP, sitting water will ruin laminates.
Polyurethane sealer will not stick to the surface of the laminate, it will NOT bond to the aluminum oxide surface of the laminate. In fact you should never apply anything like that to laminate.
How do you care for your Laminate Flooring?
Laminate is designed to be a low maintenance, hassle-free, long lasting floor. Following a few simple steps will help to ensure your floor will last you for many years to come.
* Use a dry dust-mop (such as a Swiffer™ sweeper) or a vacuum with a soft brush or wood floor attachment to remove dust, dirt and other grit.
* A damp cloth or mop may be used without causing damage to your floor, however, do not use excessive water and be sure to dry the floor thoroughly with a soft cloth.
* Immediately dry spills or water with a clean, dry cloth, sponge or paper towel. DO NOT allow liquid to remain on your laminate flooring.
* Do Not use abrasive or soap based cleaning products
* Do Not polish or wax the floor
* Do Not use steel wool or scouring pads that can scratch the surface of your laminate floor.
* Do Not sand, treat, seal or attempt to refinish your laminate floor.
* Use only colorfast, non-scratching carpet or pads on your laminate floor.
* Use felt pads under furniture legs and try not to slide furniture or appliances across the floor
* Try to avoid sharp objects with concentrated weight such as high heels on your laminate floor
Unfortunately, accidental stains and spots may occur from time to time. Try these remedies for their removal -
* Chocolate, Grease, Juice and Wine - Luke warm water and a non-abrasive cleaner
* Candle wax and Gum - Allow to harden and scrape off with a blunt plastic scraper
* Marker, crayon, lipstick, oil, shoe polish, cigar/cigarette burns - use acetone or nail polish remover
how much to have 1800 sq floating wood flooring installed?
I'm so sick of carpet & tile, I would really like this house to have hardwood but there are a few uneven spots so I'm thinking that floating wood flooring is what I want. "Id have it unstalled by who ever I bought it from depending on the cost.
Average price for installs can range from $1.75-$3 per sq/ft. The laminate varies by choice $0.99 and up. If you are somewhat handy it`s not that hard to diy. Basic tools are a good circular saw and a hammer. I find a jig saw works better than a circular saw as it is more controllable and can do the oddball cuts around doors. Once you get a few rows started it goes pretty quick. Hard on the knees and back , but worth it once you are done. Good luck
