floor installation Frequently Asked Questions
I need advise on a sander for new wood floor installation.?
I am installing wood floors in 3 bedrooms. Only can empty, install, and replace one at a time. So that means sander rental 3 times. I would rather invest in a sander to own. If anyone has used a modest sander in the 200.00 price range that works well on wood floors let me know. Thank You
I used a belt sander, and although it's a lot of bending and resting on knees, it worked great. Plus, it versatile enough that it's future use wasn't confined soley to sanding floors. I got the large DeWalt model, if you use one that's too small for the job, you'll only burn the motor out. At a minimum, get one that has adjustable speeds.
Good luck
Laminate wood floors; glue or floating?
Is it better to buy laminate wood floor with glue or floating floors?
Not sure if this matters, but we're on a slab.
Any additional information on installation or purchasing will be greatly appreciated.
I would suggest that you go with the floating floor especially since you are putting is onto slab. Both the concrete and the flooring will expand and contract with the temperature. If the floor is floating then it can move with the expanding and contracting slab. FYI- Spend the extra money and get a top of the line underlay (needed for all floating floors) because concrete can wick moisture and the high end pads are anti-mold treated while the cheap ones are not.
