Can a landlord make me install carpet in my apartment?
I have lived in my current apartment for six years. My lease arrived for my seventh year, and I intend to renew it. However, there has been an addition to the lease that was never there before:
"The tenant, at its sole cost and expense, shall carpet at least seventy-five (75%) percent of the floor area of the apartment within 30 days of the signing of this lease. The landlord reserves to itself, the right to an onsite inspection to insure compliance with the installation of the carpet."
Can they do this?? My apartment has hard wood floors (I.e., no carpets), and this has never come up before. Can they actually ask me to do this, and pay for it? Move all my furniture, AND pay for everything?
I haven't spoken to them yet, but I wanted to see what options I have before I do so. Any advice you may have would be helpful. Thanks.
It sounds like a hokey requirement. I would definitely look into it.
If you sign the lease you would be stuck doing it though, don't sign it like that.
I need help finding speakers ..totally clueless?
I just bought the denon 1909 reciever and am looking for a surround sound system (for movies) with a sub all for $1200 or less. I am fine with someone doing a 3.1 system or a 5.1. I prefer 3.1 bc I am renting and and dont want to destroy the house mounting to walls, or drilling holes throught the hard wood floor to run wire, or ceiling installation. If you have another idea for 5.1 I would love to hear it though..I have a huge sectional that I dont know if every one would get the full affect of a 5.1.(also the room layout isnt optimal bc the tv is in the corner) Ive heard pb12-nsd is a good sub but havent heard much on speakers.

Don't even bother with a center channel. Most movies have a good stereo 2.0 mix. And that sub will take care of all of the bottom end stuff.
Just don't get yourself evicted!
