I have done four rooms plus hallway in my house and am very happy with it. Not a hard job at all, just get everything very clean before starting. Probably a good idea to take the seminar at Home Depot or Lowes as you will learn the tricks before actually starting the job.

Is it easy to install hardwood flooring? isnt it just like a puzzle? is this a task i can do on my own? i want to buy the hardwood flooring of my choice lets say at Home Depot and then install it myself.. is this possible? can i install myself? and for just normal not too fancy flooring, for about 1,350sqft how much approximately would the cost be?

Depending on the "wood"... there are different installation methods. Such and glue down wood, floating wood floors, Tongue and groove, or whats called click. There is also laminate.. this is less expensive and easy to install.. All u do is buy the underlayment that is basically a padding and cut to fit the area, then begin laying the floor but be sure to leave a gap all the way around the room for expanding and contracting. This you will later cover w/ quarter round molding.
Make sure you but it up close, You might need a rubber hammer. do a whole row. then come back w/ what you cut from the last piece and make that your first piece on the next row making sure you stagger those joints likewise the whole process. If it is glue down then no underlayment and you glue it but the the glue is expensive about 150.00 for 5 gal bucket and it stinks. W/ a glue down you will need mineral spirits to wipe away any glue that gets on the surface of the wood.
