install cork flooring Frequently Asked Questions
Ug, i need help. we had wood floors installed in the front portion of our house which consist of?
entry, livingroom, diningroom, kitchen and stopped there because of $ thinking we would do the rest later. so, 2 yrs later we still cant afford to have them done. im wonder if we did the back portion of the house (our bedroom, hall & kids rooms) in something less expensive,( like cork or maybe stain the concrete i really have no idea what else we would use) would that look bad? the two different floors would meet up at the entry way to the hall.. any advise? solutions? opinions? help me out here, i suck at this. Thanks!
Try to just finish the hallway in the same hardwood, it will create a flow. As nice as it would be to have the entire house done, I get what you mean, we did the same thing. I put new carpeting in the bedrooms and it looks fine, they aren't part of the main living area where everything else is hardwood. But with the hallway being open to the rest of the house, it had to be done to create a nice flow. You can get decent carpeting fairly inexpensively, that's what I would do for now. Whatever you do, do not put laminate down. it would look really cheap next to the nice hardwood. There is no comparison, and it would look as though you ran out of money. (even though you did, you don't need to point it out) Carpet would look more intentional, it's more bedroomy, warm under the feet when you get out of bed. I'd suggest a neutral color, all the same.
