install hardwood

One of the most complicated DIY projects is the installation of carpet floors. Many people are intimidated by the idea of installing the carpet, feeling that is beyond their capabilities. This is largely due to the special tools required. However, the carpet installation is actually a project fairly easy DIY story and do it yourself, you can save a lot of money on installation costs.

Tools

Installing carpet requires some special tools. These include a knee stretcher, power stretcher, iron, sewing, seam roller, trimmer on the wall, and the right tool. However, these tools can be rented from your local rental shop. This is much more profitable than buying the tools.

You also need a carpet knife, hammer, Tack strips (also known as strips), staple gun or hammer stapler, and tape seam of the carpet.

Soil Preparation

This is very important to properly prepare the soil before installing carpet. Carpet can be installed over concrete, wood or linoleum. However, if the floor is damaged, it is best to remove or replace the damaged subfloor. Take this time to repair squeak on the floor due to loose boards.

The subsoil should be thoroughly cleaned before installation of your carpet. I do not want any dirt or debris below which can damage the cushioning material and carpet. You must remove the land records and you have revolving doors in the room, it is easier to remove the doors and not to try to work around them.

Installing the Stuffing

Before installing the fill, you need to install strips due along the edges of walls and openings around floor register. Do not install the strips in direction opposite the door openings. These strips should be installed approximately 1 / 4 "wall studs with inclined toward the wall. Most of the strips are tactics and nails to nail them to the floor. If you have a cement floor may be necessary to glue the strips down with a masonry adhesive.

The next step is to deploy its fill, starting along one wall. Overlap the strips tactic by about 3-4 inches, making sure that the filling is still soft and direct, without grouping. Use a staple gun or hammer stapler to staple the carpet padding, place a staple every 6 inches or less. If you have a concrete floor or not want to damage the underlying soil, you can use adhesive for installation of the filling.

You can use masking tape along the seams to help keep the group to install the carpet. When completed the installation of filling, use a utility or carpet knife to cut the fillers along the tack strips, making sure that the stuffing does not overlap the strips. Cut any record of openings in the floor along the tack strips as well.

Carpet Installation

Roll the carpet the room, again starting along one wall and leaving 3-4 inches of overlap along the walls. Be sure to keep the flies and carpet care not allow any of the cushioning material to pile up under the carpet. Cut the log floor openings, also leaving a few inches of overlap on tack strips.

If you have more than one section of the carpet, you must create a seam. Place seam tape below the seam with the adhesive above. The heat of your iron and sewing from then on the wall, place the iron directly to the seam on the tape until the adhesive melts and press both sides carpet on the tape. Use a seam roller or other heavy object to smoothly press the seam together and on the sticker. Follow this process along the seam all, make a small section at a time.

From a corner, using the table of the knee to install the carpet tack strip. Place the head of punter a few inches from the wall and kick the bag tightly with the knee. Repeat this process every 6-8 inches along the wall. Once completed, we will use the table to install the carpet, along the other walls. Place one end of the table of energy along the wall that just ended and the head of the table along of the opposite wall, about 4-6 inches from the wall. Pushing the lever down, the carpet is stretched over the tack strips. Repeat this along the entire wall, and the remaining walls. Use the knee kicker to stretch the carpet over the tack along the floor register openings.

When the carpet is attached to all the tack strips, use the wall trimmer to cut the excess carpet along the wall. This will keep the edges straight and gives a close cutting. Using the right tool or a stiff spatula, tuck the edges of the carpet under the baseboard along the wall.

Finally, install door edge strip on the doors to cover the edge of the carpet and make a transition into the next room. Replace your registration covers and you're done!

As you can see, installing your own carpet can be quite easy if you have the right tools and instructions. So when you're ready for your next DIY project ground, not shrink from the mats, because the installation costs. Install yourself and save some money!
