HELP WITH LAMINATE FLOORING INSTALLATION ON CONCRETE!!!!?
Help!!!! I was installing part of the laminate floor (I got about 10X20 done today.....) when i realized that when i stepped on the laminate flooring it would creak pretty badly. I did leave the 1/4 gap around all the edges. I also noticed the the flooring seems to be uneven (its on concrete). Is the the only cause of the squakiness or could the under plaster layering be cause it too(the water barrier)? Is there any way i co8uld fix the uneven of the flooring with cut foam under the boards instead of paying someone to come and pour cement all over my floor???!!!!!! PLEASE HELP AND IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU DID TO FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!! Thanks!
To install laminated flooring or tile ,you should first level the concrete .When concrete are install surface of the concrete Always has up and down ,for this manner they use the long level till find out high area and the they grind it by large disk till surface get flat and level .The other way it's to make a liquorish concrete (use cement,water and sand only ) and fill the lowest areas till surface get flat and level ,which second way it will be more chipper for you to do it .
Do I need to install another layer of plywood under my floating laminate installation?
I am going to do a floating installation of 8.3 laminate over a plywood subfloor. The existing plywood is pretty uneven and thin but seems ok. I had an installer look at it and say because the subfloor is uneven he would have to install another layer of plywood on top of that one to even it out. This adds like 900 to the installation (including product). Is this the best way or can I simply buy some wood floor leveling compound, level the floor and just float the laminate on top? Not sure what is best to do but am trying to save but at the same time I want it to come out right. Can someone please help.

Floor leveler is fine for laminate. Get a STRAIGHT 10' 2x4 and sweep it around the floor. Any valleys of more than 1/8" must be filled in. You can also grind ridges down to make this easier. This will cost less than plywood installation, but will take longer. It should also do a better job. Hope this helps.
