If I refinish a hardwood floor that has lots of nail holes in it from subfloor will it look horrible?
Is there any way to remedy this?
The people who lived in this house before need to be slapped for doing this. Underneath the linoleum and subfloor in my kitchen is some 100 year old maple flooring with lots of bird's eye maple in it. I want to refinish it but I'm afraid the nail holes will be too much.

Actually, if you have the holes filled and then sand the floor it should come up beautifully. We just had a 118 year old floor done (and we had to replace some wood that was water damaged). The floor had been covered with a cement layer and then italian tiles put over that. We had lots of nail holes too from the cement sections they had nailed down. However once refinished it is absolutely beautiful and with the sanding, you can't tell the old sections from the new sections. Good luck and I am so happy to see there are people out there who appreciate the beauty in the old floors.

Also does anyone know where in the Toronto area I can buy stair nosing to match American Black Walnut std Maple, CanMaster brand?
If you can t get a nosing from the suppler that you bought the wood from. Them may not make one, I know some brands don t.. If not , you ll have to go to a flooring store and get a 3/4 " unfinished nosing and stain it yourself. GLl
