Needing to seal concrete floor in order to lay down hardwood flooring?
we had the carpet removed from our bedrooms in the house we just bought 2 weeks ago. The installer used his moisture device and detected a high level of moisture. Although we are using Shaw flooring with underlayment, he is advicing us to seal the concrete to ensure the moisture does not damange the new floor. We went to Home Depot and spent 683.00 today. I feel like this is too expensive and I am wondering if there is something else out there we could use that is not too expensive.
Sealing won t keep out moisture fully. You say your putting hard wood down.True hard wood doesn t need , nor can you put an underlayment under it. You must be doing a laminate or an engineered wood. These can be put down if you lay a moisture barrier down.along with the underlayment that goes with these types of wood. But your setting your self up for a mold problem if the moisture is extremely high.
Ceramic tile will take the moisture but usually is expensive unless you install it your self.
