User Reviews of Bamboo Flooring?

My husband and I are buying our first house. We’re wanting to tear out the living room carpet & put down some type of wooden or laminate flooring. We’ve looked at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Sam’s Club. The cheapest laminate we found was $1.97/sq ft at Lowe’s. We looked at Sam’s Club and found actual solid, finished, bamboo planks for $1.45/sq ft. I don’t remember what the brand was, but it was solid wood, not laminate. Is bamboo good flooring? How does it hold up to kids & pets?

The problem with any floating floor—is it is squeaky and will buckle for sure if you get a flood or too wet a mop.I dislike floating floors—and think nothing can beat a good old hardwood floor–I understand it is costly-and carpet is now out but strongly suggest you do something temporary until you can get the real Mc Coy–real wood floors are selling points and that floating stuff is frowned on in a sale.
