is bamboo hardwood flooring easily scratched by dog nails?

my dad is putting down bamboo hardwood flooring sometime soon this month, and since Im 13 and I have a lab mix, I was wondering if I need to keep her nails rounded by using a nail clipper/filer?? Ive been doing this about once every month so they dont get nasty, but I was wondering if I needed to start doing it more often, since were getting bamboo hardwood floors. so I guess my question here is does bamboo hardwood floorings scratch easily by dog nails, and do I need to file her nails more often since were getting hardwood flooring??

I commend you for being such a responsible 13 year old pet owner! Good for you!

There are actually different types of bamboo flooring. There is solid, engineered and strand woven. Given the fact you have a lab mix, you definitely want strand woven bamboo as it is the strongest type of bamboo flooring and it can withstand a higher level of pet traffic. While strand woven is not scratch proof, it will hold up better to scratches better than regular bamboo floors.

In answer to keeping your dog’s nails trimmed, yes you should keep them trimmed as much as possible. They also make nail caps for dogs and cats. If you do an Internet search, you will find them. They come in various sizes by weight category.
