Is it okay to use solid wood floor in my downstairs apartment?
I read that below grade (ground) level, hardwood floors not advisable due to fluctuations in moisture levels and humidity. Instead, you should use engineered real wood flooring, which do not expand or contract like solid wood strength. In the room you want to install wood floor, only one wall is below ground. Can you install solid wood or moisure levels still too high and difficult?
If the floor is considered below grade that pretty much have to go with a wood floor engineering. Its not worth the worry and trouble to put a hardwood floor in a place where problems can occur.
