What can I use to fill in gaps in newly laid vinyl flooring?
I just laid new Trafficmaster allure vinyl plank flooring. It seems that the pieces are not quite perfect and it now has very small gaps between a few of the tiles. What can I use to fill in those gaps so dirt doesn't get is there and create unsightly black lines.
You can try to find a caulk to match. Dap makes a product called Alex Plus, which is an acrylic latex caulk with silicone. It is available in a variety of colors, including clear. Hope this helps.
How do you lay out a sheet of vinyl flooring over plywood in a kitchen?
I have an old house and i am remodeling the kitchen. I have old plywood on the floor and I just bought some new plywood and a sheet of vinyl flooring. The guy that is suppose to be putting it in for me may not be able to now and I need it done this weekend as I am suppose to be moving into my house next weekend. Can someone please help me out and tell me how to do it myself?
I agree with Don's method; it is by far the easiest and safest. To add to his method I will mention that you need to let the glue tack up (just follow the directions) before you roll the flooring on to it...that is very important. Also, they make a special hand tool that looks like a large dull chisel for pushing the vinyl up to the walls before you trim the excess. You can improvise and fashion your own tool. Try to avoid any seams, especially in the walkways. If your ply wood has any knots or imperfections, take care of that before you even begin to lay vinyl, or else the floor will wear out in those spots.
