I want to find laminate that is like this. I love the color how its dark but not red or burnt looking. I also love how thick each wood piece of wood is. Any suggestions on what I should buy and where?!
I recently put Pergo laminate flooring in my kitchen. The color is Antique Dark Cherry. I absolutely love it.
This is probably too red for your liking but I bet there are other colors that might be close to the color hardwood you like. I bought mine at Lowes during a sale and saved 49 cents per square foot. Without the discount it's still pretty expensive. Take a look at the Allendale Oak.
Hardwood floors faded by sun?
I just bought a 6 year old house. It has dark walnut floors. The homeowners had a large rug down so I never noticed this when I did my walkthrough. Now that they have noes out I have noticed the sun (there is a wall of windows in the vaulted room) has lightened the wood around where the rug is. What can be done to fix this?
This was caused by either the sun as you suspect or the area rug didn t have the proper underlayment and that darken the area under it. Either way you must sand, strip and refinish the flooring to get it back to the original , even color.
But what you must also do, is check if this was a finished on site floor or a pre finished flooring. Some prefinished floors , it is very difficult to re finish them because of them ( not all) have an aluminum oxide finish which won t take a stain well.
