How do you repair scratches in a hard wood floor?
Took up the carpeting in my bedroom, floor looks great except for several scratches in the wood. These are 1/16" or smaller you can feel it with your finger nail and see them throughout the room. The floor is hardwood with a varnish, possibly a polyurethane varnish, I am not sure.
If it it soft it is poly if it is a harder it is probabably a varnish either way your or my best (guess) is to use a fine steel wool and a self leveling light coat spray-yes a spray poly or varathane and then buff the scratches out then steel wool then spray then spray then buff etc.

PS Be sure to use cheese cloth after any sanding or steel wool to pick up any small particles left behind B 4 you apply whatevever you use 4 a finish !!
How much is fair for floor repair/recover with flooring?
small kitchen, rotten wood needs replacing in about a third of a 10x10. husband is helping move out appliances, and in an assistant role. May have to move part of cabinent, unsure, adding a subfloor to reinforce. then lying new vinal or tile. Guy is a well aqainted coworker. How do I know if Im getting a good deal? He quoted us 700.00 for all labor, we buy materials. Looking for opinions from contractors or people who have had similiar work done, who would really know prices. husband thinks can be completed in around 1 1/2 or two days. Is this a good quote??? Havent gotten a second quote, so kinda confused.
Get the guy that is helping to say how long this will take. If hubby thinks 1- 1 1/2 days, then 700$ is to much for a friend in that short of period. If it were a long weekend or a 2 weekend job where he is giving up time to help then yes , maybe that much, but for a less than 2 day job? No to much.. GL
