wooden floors Frequently Asked Questions
How does one remove paint stains on wooden floors and vinyl tiles?
I've just painted my hallway and my son's bedroom. Despite having covered the floors with plastic, I still have some paint stains on my floor and don't know the best way to remove them. Any advice would be appreciated!
hi jill
i am sure that you have used latex paint so just some warm water and a cloth will remove your paint. i am just blown away by how people would suggest acetone or carburator cleaner all of this stuff can be very damaging. come on people if you don't know don't answer. are the 2 lousy points that important that you would maybe ruin someones floors?
Is my cat going to scratch the wooden floor?
So I want to get a cat and my floor is wooden. My parents don't want scratches on the floor so I wonder if I buy a cat will she going to scratch the floor with her claws? And an other question, can I cut a cats claws or is it against her nature and she will die or get sick or something?
Please the first question is more important so don't go and answer only the second question....Thank you!
I think it's unlikely that a cat's claws would mark a wooden floor - they are much softer than a dog's claws, and wooden floors should be strong enough to withstand shoe heels etc. Cats also retract their claws when they're not using them, unlike a dog. General wear and tear (strolling about, using cat scratcher post etc) will generally keep the claws under control. You can trim a cat's claws but it's not easy - you have to be very careful not to cut the 'quick' - this will bleed and hurt the cat! Also your average cat doesn't like being held down to have its claws clipped! However a vet or pet groomer will probably do it for you if it becomes necessary.
